make sure you're using port 1 in the controllers section in ableton prefs that did it for me. i can go into more detail.

Kiddo, that's bad attitude: err, ey, sucks, grumble, spit, buah...

I'm using a SL37 and automap works fine with Live. Automap works on Port 2 while all normal Midi operations work on channel 1. Be sure to install the latest driver from Novation's homepage, because it will update the firmware of the Remote SL (mine came with v1.x while 3.x is the most current one). Now stay calm and try getting it to work properly or give it back, because it's either broken or it's too complicated for you. 8)

That's weird.

Automap works on Port 1 for Tone Deft as well as me.

I'm running Windows XP, maybe you're running OS X and it's different there? I read in some other thread about Live Automap being on port 2 and that's how it is for me here as well.

Nah, XP sp2 here as well.

All the manuals told me to use port 2, so I did, then it didn't work. Weird huh.

Are you using USB drivers coming with XP or did you install the Novation ones? I am using the Novation ones right now. Whatever, just try all ports and find the one that's working I'd say. :)

control suface-remote sl input - port1 , output - port1

from what I understand, port 2 is for midi clock sync I/O, port 3 is for a device daisy chained to the SL.

nice post bot, that makes it clearer.
