Native sidechain compressor/gate. Or user configurable skinning colours. I find it very hard on my eyes after a while, especially beat warping whole 70s funk tunes!

I'm not complaining though, I got 99.9% of what I wished for already. 89% of that was signal routing :D

More "relative" midi control. Everything now is tied directly to specific Clips, I wish there was an option to have the same MIDI/Key mapping settings apply to the currently playing clip on a given track. IE, your midi mapping of loop and clip parameters is tied to the track, not the clip. There isn't a controller made yet that has enough knobs to let me tweak my live set in realtime, without constantly reassigning the controls on the fly.

multiple loop and cue points within an audio clip for djing...
to be able set loops on or off on the fly within a large song audio clip...
and to move and jump the play head....

Yeah, the ability to set loop points later in a clip but still have it play the non-looped part would be great. As well as being able to leave tails after loops that play once the clip is 'untriggered'.

a few things I'd consider minor - like relative MIDI control and loop only part of what's played - but nothing major.

Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

hell yeah to native sidechain gate and comp.

also i still want solo isolate/exempt. (is this coming? the manual says "Soloing a clip track leaves the return tracks unaffected (solo in place)." but it does not behave this way currently. anyway, i would want this as an option for all tracks, y'know for usable grouping, outboard fx etc.)

aside from that, i'm really happy with live 4 and amazed at how usable the beta is.

key inputs into compressor

Post by taikowaza » Thu Jul 15, 2004 12:18 pm

I would like the ability to input two signals into the compressor, one as a main audio input and the other as a key to modify the compression.
This could be very useful indeed for dance music.
If this feature is already implemented, please accept my apology, and tell me how to use it!
Otherwise, I hope that ableton designers will consider this request for live 4.
sincerely

An Amp Sim/ Cool distortion seems to be the only major effect missing to me.

This is actually called "sidechaining", and it's apparently possible to do this now with the new bussing technology, however, as yet there are no vst fx that can do it. I'm REALLY hoping Ableton can alter the gate and compressor2 to tave advantage of this, it's an essential production technique with LOADS more uses than making a pad bounce in time with a bass drum!

OMF import & export! Plus it makes TOTAL business sense for ABleton to incorporate this and make a dent in Steinberg's domination!

Hehe, Steinberg doesn't even have OMF in and out down yet though! :) Don't get me wrong, SX 2 and Nuendo have the feature, but it rarely works well in my experience...

COMPATIBILITY WITH RECYCLE (REX) LOOPS! I would be happy if I could just bring them in and play them like all the other loops but if I could really push it I would also ask for a kind of DR. rex loop player with all the audio mangling facilities?? I know AMG are doing a VST one they call One/Solo but...but.. having one built into Ableton - it would be Christmas every day of the year!
