drum racks are part of Live, the basic application.
I have made my own drum racks which use plain waveforms and Simplers to make a kind of 'drum machine' where all the drums are shape-able via macros. Like a futuristic 909 hybrid. I guess that's what one of the sample packs will be like.

wow, very exciting.
my only wish was automation in clipmode, but seems it must be too much work. but this is a very good upgrade.

Quick question about layering in DrumRack: is it easy to offset sample start for a layered sample? I didn't see anything abvious in the Simpler interface.

I mean I read a review in a magazine by a well-known writer that brought up this very topic. How long should Ableton have allowed this to perpetuate? I think they absolutely had to do something about it, and if you're a user who wants to see this program survive and continue growing then you should be supportive of this move.
I think the audio and MIDI fact sheets are a great way to handle this issue as well. In line with what you are saying here, someone in another Live 7 thread posted asking if the 64-bit processing will take care of the "jumpines" in warped basslines....

I'm really excited at the groundbreaking live performance beast that Live is becoming! I was thinking of getting padKontrol (for my heavy-flow days

) and with these drum racks going on now, I think that'll be a nice Christmas present for ME!!!

I had to turn to Cubase 3 times recently because Live could not handle automated time signature changes and many have requested it. Better audio, better MIDI - awesome what's to complain about there ! Export of video files, great, new drum rack, superb, and sidechaining, something about 80% of people on this forum have been asking about for years. Multiple automation lanes are now viewable, awesome, that was a pain in the a$$ before. Tempo nudge for DJs is something they've been asking for for ages too.
Good work Ableton !
I agree, massive is right. The DrumRack alone is worth the upgrade...possibly the best solution for drums out there right now. Upgrading to the Suite means that you're getting three AAS instruments (incl. a cutdown Lounge Lizard!) for about $100 a piece. This is not even considering the super-quality drummachine kits from PureMagnetik! Sweet deal.
Theres lots of jucy stuff for shure! I love the sound of Tassman, but never got to use it because its akward interface. Ive mailed them a couple of times a few years back, asking them to release a minimalistic skin like Ableton

Didnt get an answer, but the Tension seems like I finally can play with those synth algos the way I wanted to! Bravo! Also freaking love the drum racks, and of course time signature changes!

Pleeease????
Oh yeah? That'd be nice but...
Does the hardware interface plugin let you RENAME MIDI CCs?
I want to have a profile for each hardware synth I use, and naming CCs is ESSENTIAL.

are there any adjustments or improvements to the customisable automap controller thing? Seem to remember Abes saying that it wasnt fully 'supported' & just a little extra bonus so have they rolled this out to be more of an improved feature this time?
