Midi not coming through in Live; have Motif, MBox to PC

Post by mavenintraining » Sat Oct 06, 2007 12:12 am

:?

I have a Midi track set up, preferences show my Yamaha USB, I/O all are "on" for track, sync, remote.

EXT upper indicator does not flash, events do not come through. Audio is intact.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is Control Surface an issue?

Thanks.

Maybe a problem on the Motif itself. I'm not too familiar with it, but I'd assume that you can tell the Motif which MIDI port should be used to output MIDI data when you play the keyboard, i.e. either the 5-pin MIDI sockets or the USB output.

As for the MIDI preferences in Live, make sure nothing is selected under 'control surfaces'. TRACK needs to be activated on the input and output. REMOTE on the input only (if you want to remote conrol anything in Live with the Motif). SYNC can be turned off, unless you want to sync the tempo of Live or anything on the Motif via MIDI clock.

Best regards,

Just to avoid any confusion, it's not the indicator on the EXT button which should flash (this will display an incoming MIDI clock message), but rather the MIDI track in indicator at the very right of the transport bar.
