Found a solution that worked for me

Post by jamatulli » Sat May 26, 2007 11:44 pm

The Bank Select numbers as specified for my Roland Fantom XR are offset by one number. So MSB = 86 according to Roland is an MSB = 87 according to live. The same is true for LSB (sub-bank) Roland 64= Ableton 65....but not program changes which are equal.

Hopefully this will help someone. This had me pretty perplexed for a while because it seemed to work half the time.

Bank Select for Motif ES (or in general)

Post by pfranchise » Sat Oct 06, 2007 10:42 pm

Verified! This was driving me nuts but there's indeed a bug where you need to add 1 to MSB and LSB values for banke select.

In Ableton, "Bank" is MSB and "Sub-Bank" is LSB. You need to add 1 to desired index. For example, if you want to specify MSB a value of "0", you have to specify "1". Likewise if you want to specify LSB a value of "32", you have to specify "33".

Program change interestingly enough is 0 indexed, so you don't have to add a "1" to it.

This is what I needed to do get bank select working on my Motif however I suspect that's the case in general, unless my Motif is off by one in which case I'm not going to figure that one out.

How about performance mode? I have my patches for each song in one 'perfomance'.
