recording audio results in very bad mixing

hi guys and gals,

i have some issues when recording audio.

i'm creating a seperate audio track, setting it's audio in to "master"
and record in the arrangement view. after that i take the recorded
sample file (wav) and put it into some seperate folder.

problem is, when listening to this recorded song, the mixing is very
very bad. sounds like i have never seen a mixing panel.
well my soundcard is crap, it's a onboard chipset and powered by the
MME driver. no ASIO available and YES, i will buy a good card.

but still why does the mixing differ so much in the recorded audio track?
the kickdrum is way too loud, the percussion is too quiet, and it's barely
possible to hear the synth. these symtpoms are even worse, when
playing that recorded .wav on another machine with a different
sound system (stereo tower for example)

while playing the set in ableton, everything is mixed perfectly.

Am i such a noob or could some setting be a problem? maybe
the way i am recording an audio song is wrong?

Hi,

I'm not getting this right: you do have a set, that you mix in Live, and you do like the sound you get. From then, what do you do?

You could either use the "Render to disk" feature, or record internally to a new audio track, which input is set to "resample". I'm not sure what you do exactly.

Well that is what i am doing. I am using live as all-in-one tool. so
i basically set up different tracks with impulse, simpler, sampler and also
audio loop clips and mix them together in session view.

in the end i have a set which sounds good to me. then i record on
one dedicated audio track the master output while playing the session
live. the result of listening to the recorded .wav file sucks...

Hi,

If you're using that technique, you should set the "Audio from" chooser of the audio track you're recording to, to "resample". From there, everything should be fine.

Well, i used input "master", not resampling. That should be the reason
for my problem?

What's the difference between recording "master" and "resampling"?

Hi,

If you use "Master", you'd have to trun monitoring to OFF on that track, otherwise you'll get a feedback loop. "resample" on the other hand, takes care of it automatically.

Whatever the master outputs will be recorded on the track, so, make sure the signal is loud enough on the Master track.
