Will you be ditching Logic or Cubase for L4?

I'm thinking about selling my Logic now, as Live 4 does all my needs and I think even Simpler and better..
What about others who may own other DAW's?

i ditched cubase when i got live (used it with Floops)

Won't be getting rid of Logic. Great plugins and instruments, great automation.

Still rendering out every individual track and FX return in LIVE for final mixing in Logic - Roll on the multitrack export feature

Are you kidding ?

How do you dare comparing ?

1. the sound
2. the GUI (fisher prize meets Toys R Us)
3. the plugin/CPU ratio effectiveness (try applying 10 amplitudes in realtime in Live...)
4. the sound (metallizer alltimes on)

only people takin music not seriously (like most of Live users kiddies Pseudo DJs) or without ears and common sense would ditch Lap or Cux.
That doesnt mean that Live isnt a great proggie, being a prof. DAW is just not its purpose, its purpose is being an inspiring and funny toy.

Weird..I find Live to sound better than Logic. I agree though Logic compressors are killer and has some killer pulgs .I really like the output of Live..Maybe I geta better mix as it is easy to mix and focus than on Logic for me..I guess it is what one feels best with..
I find Reaktor and other VSti's/AU s function better (like Reaktor) than in Logic.

What an utter pile of sh*te. Cubase, Logic, Live, etc. are only tools for creating music, so if you have the talent and creativity you can write good music with anything. There are many professional composers, including myself, who use Live and are able to create great music. I still use Cubase alongside of Live, they both have their parts to play.

Hi!

I will still use my Cubase SX for Creating,Mixing and Composing and Abelton live for Liveperformance.
SX(especially the Mixer etc) seems to me more solid and well strucktured.Also the versatile (User-)Keycommands,the PDC,Audio editing.......makes it still be my Workhorse

But Live makes more fun playing around and preparing Scenes etc for a live Situation

So Cubase is my Workhorse and Live my Toy!!

I'm keeping both Logic and Cubase. There still are things Live 4 can't do better than these "dinossaurs".
I particularly appreciate the freeze function in Logic (I'm on a 550 MHz G4 TiBook so...) and the program change automation in Cubase.
Then again, it's always nice to fall out of a routine. That's also the reason I'm keeping them.

i have been tempted but i use cubase since the atari days ,it's an icon for me , i am where i am now because of cubase.

Adam Freeland's "FABRICLIVE 16" used some Live to great effect.

They are both super programs - I prefer Live for creation and sketching out an arrangement, but Logic in my opinion is better for arranging audio (The automation control is pretty chill) plus the built in Arp is super cool

There's shop down my road that has these incredibly eager to please owners - they used to sell just food, but if you go in and ask for shoelaces and they don't have any they'll stock them the next day, then they get asked for something else and they stock that and and so it goes on until no one can move around the place or see what they want for the vast quantities of stuff on display in their little shop.
I am ditching Logic while i can still get a good price for it - I don't have any negative associations with "toys" - they encourage "play" - a very healthy and creative activity.
I used to love Logic for the very same reasons! It looked good and the interface seemed intuitive, but I stopped using it when I tried Live just as I switched from Cubase to Logic originally - it wasn't fun anymore. Live has a lightness of touch which I love - I hope that doesn't disappear with all the new features although they are welcome (help,a contradiction!?).
To me now Logic feels bloated - I upgraded to Pro to see if I could rekindle the old affair but amazingly, despite the inclusion of a clavinet and Hammond organ !! (who are they aiming this stuff at?) I had to admit that it was over, besides, I could never get on with the environment - all the cabling is better suited to the engineering types, £600 and not even a drum machine! And if you want cheap looking, what about that hyper editor, or the EXS24 sample window (wow, no waveforms!).
There is a whiff of fear about "the big three" and it's a good thing too - it's called competition, sure they have loyal users who have been with them since the year dot, but how many newbies/(children?)/stars of the future are going to fork out that sort of dosh when they can have quick, fun and easy to use programs like Live & Reason for less than half the price?
I notice Emagic are canvassing readers opinions in Sound On Sound, and well they should; maybe they feel thay have lost touch.
Of course there are rumours Emagic will add a Live type timestretch and Reason will get audio recording they will all try to do so much, just like a certain shop I don't go in anymore...
