Yes, you just set your computer up as a dual-monitor extended desktop, drag Live's floating video window to the second screen (ie the monitor/projector) and then double-click on the video window - it goes full-screen.

It is very basic, except that no other app does video time-stretching like this. For me, this is a huge deal, so I'm glad they bothered. :D

that sounds really promising... thankx
if they can bring the little overall annoyances a bit down (Live in general that is) and CPU consumption this sounds more exciting than the L6 upgrade (although racks was real nice).

I just watched the first video on the page. Nice. So it looks like you can do a lot more with video other than warping and time syncing the clip. But are the effects locked to both the audio and video? That's what the video made it look like.

Beats, check out Jay's youtube demo of his Just Add Music software:

OMFG! He has completely integrated Live's effect paradigms into his video software. EQ/distortion/BEAT REPEAT!!!/you name it.

Its the most exciting thing I've seen in VJ/video for years! Basically, he takes what Live can do to audio, and harnesses video to it.

Seriously, check it out... this deserves to be huge.

Hard to tell how it works from the video, but if what I'm seeing is correct, it looks incredibly BADASS way to work!!

That is what I was commenting on, those videos.......Sooooo what you are saying though is that he made software that takes advantage of Live's effects. Since I haven't done video with Live yet I was seeing it as that is just how Live works without any third party software.

Now that is exciting (although I guess slightly less because my ignorant ass thought live does all that on it's own)

WTF wasn't that in the Live 7 upgrade?!?!? Waahhhhh. I'm going back to my Fostex 4-track cassette recorder even though I'm still pissed they didn't add a 5th track when I sent them daily handwritten requests back in 1989.

heh. good one. that's the downside of a company that actually listens to their users...they're all spoiled and think they can ask for anything. maybe itsthejayj will score and ableton will want to buy this from him and integrate it into version 8.

At Ableton Camp last year, this was my main feature request, video clips in session view. I reasoned that Live has become the industry standard for live audio delivery, why not make it the standard for live A/V delivery?

Gerhard replied "but if we give you that, won't you then want video effects, and crossfades, and everything?". I replied no, cuts only would do me just fine, and I saw no video effects as analogous to Live not having a built-in destructive sample editor. I can see why they don't want to move too far from their core business . . . yet.

I do however suspect / hope that something exciting in videoland will come of the C74/Ableton hookup - but Jay's software is EXACTLY what I was hoping for... and then taken 10 levels beyond what I could have possibly hoped for!

I'm not really throwing a shit storm about this not being included in 7 yet but when you take examples like this and upcoming DMX control plugins then it only makes since seeing that Live's focus is live performance. Video and lighting are the next step in live performance, especially to an electronic act with a low band member count.

All the whiners on here seem to be complaining about it not being like other DAWs. Now that I think about I think they should focus more on video and lighting and less on competing toe to toe with DAWs.

You are an excellent representative of my own wishes on this matter. Thank you!
