That Radiohead record
anyone know, if you didn't preorder it, how to go about purchasing and downloading it now?
if I go to http://www.inrainbows.com/ it says authentication required and asks me for a user name and password.

I know, that's what I partly did...I wasn't totally (but still a little bit) serious about the whole thing either, just something that occurred to me...Kids, kids, you don't have to give any info - you can just fill in the form with rubbish info - and then you get a link directly in your browser to download the mp3s -> i.e. you don't even need to give a real email address.
I don't know much of radiohead except for a mix a friend of mine made for me a while ago with what he thought were their best songs...there were quite a few I really like, also others that didn't do it for me...
The current album is very laid back, I like it, but it doesn't blow me away or anything...
it's lighter, more upbeat, sometimes in the U2, REM and even Jeff Buckley area, but jazz/dub????
no anthems on this one... each radiohead album had them.. that and the recent thom yorke's eraser probably suggest they're heading another direction again

I never really understood the whole Radiohead thing, their past albums were only ok to me. This one is surprisingly good though, I like it more than I thought I would. I wish that Thom guy would learn to stop whining when he sings, that pseudo-falsetto style he uses just grates on my ears at times
Good music though, well worth the $1 I paid to check it out.

Since they're going on the "honour system" for the download...wouldn't it make more sense to let you listen to it first, THEN decide how much you want to pay?
I would actually download an album that would play for only one week. Then to keep it, I'd have to "activate" it and pay.
I'd like to download a copy of In Ranbows for free and do just that. If in a week, I think it's worthy in a week, then I'll log in again and pay.
I do realize that some music needs time to grow on one. But at my age I can pretty much tell if something is worthy or not in a short time.

It sounds consequent due to they developed back with the last one, now they returned to level of Pablo Honey which I never really liked. Even soundwise its just like every slightely arty record these days, reduced and thin. My only days with them were while Amnesiac and Kid A (though some tracks on OK Comp were ok), which both have even greater B-Sides than all the rest of their career.

That's part of the appeal of Radiohead to me. They've come from being an alternative guitar-driver band, to being what they are today. The ground they have covered is astounding if you listen to Pablo Honey, and then pop in the new CD.aburgener wrote:every song post "Bends" could be named "sweaty ballsack falling into mouth" and i'd still like them all better than every song ON "the bends"...
i sold everything pre-OK Computer, it's just boring to me
I personally like everything they've done.
I've been trying to download that damn album for two f'in days...
I think the method of "release" is cool IF IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm PISSED......the server is probably overloaded....

once again, a genius record...something about this band...I can listen to songs years later and find layers and nuances that I didn't...also, for most of their albums, I start to like it like a couple of years later...like they're way ahead of their time, and my feeble mind just doesn't get it...then a couple of years later, it slams me how good it is...definitely the case with OK Computer and everything afterwards...
This album...not the case....love it right from the start, and it is a bit truer to the Bends, OK Computer days...guitars minus all the electronics. Great stuff!!
Wonder what the second CD adds and if it's worth buying
