Live Session Orchestra vs the Rest

Post by logman » Fri Oct 12, 2007 4:16 am

I've listened to the demo tracks of Live's new orchestral instruments and I'm not impressed, particularly by the strings.

What other options are out there at this price bracket?
Does everything sub-$1000 sound like this?

Or are Ableton's demo tracks just badly put together?

Cheers

Cheers Cloak and Dagger.

Have any beta testers got their hands on the Session Strings etc? I'd like to keep thing Ableton and want to hear what really can be done with them.

If you have Reason, just get the Garritan Orchestra Reason Edition.

For £40 it's an absolute bargain.

GPO seems to be the best option out there at this stage and it offers more control over the instruments than Ableton promises for a third of the price.

Also, the vibrato on the Ableton strings seems too pronounced.

Any contrary opinions?
