Anyone confirm that new instruments are AAS synths...?

Post by jonathanpduffy » Sat Oct 13, 2007 8:33 am

HI

I noticed a post complaining that Ableton have used the (wonderful) AAS physical modeling synths for the new instruments in 7... if this is the case (and I already own the whole collection) are the new instruments a waste of money or is the level of integration so great that it makes sense...

Are they simply Lounge Lizard, Ultra Analog and String Studio with new interfaces (or the session versions)?

I think it's probably good for both companies to do this...quality across the board...but I don't want to end up paying twice...

Thoughts?

Yes, they are licenced by AAS and contain the same synthesis engines.

The differences:
- the Ableton versions do not contain effects.
- the GUI is more abletonish, thus providing all features known from other Ableton devices ( context menues for showing automation, reset to default, ....)
- we tried to improve the interface to encourage users to play more with the parameters. IMHO especially Tension aka String Studio is an incredible instrument and deserves that people really tweak the sounds.

I currently don't know what our price politics will be if you allready have the AAS versions.

Thanks Robert!

Do you plan to add the same amounts of presets and make Ableton instruments combatible with AAS Sound Bank Series?

Thanks for the response here Robert.

I don't think you guys could have picked a better 'fit' for Live integrated instruments... They really are wonderful synths. I agree that that the String Studio/Tension is pretty special... and I find that using UA and LL mean I don't bother turning to other vsts nowadays.

Perahps some kind of Cross-Grade pricing could be made available...?

Anyway... good thinking.
