or can you setup a load of looped samples and switch them as the note is held?

that would be great.
As far as I understand it, you can even select samples with an LFO.

yeah. Basically, in addition to the Key and Vel editors there is now also a "Sel", which is chosen at note on. This can be addressed from an LFO or from the MIDI tab, so that each time a new note on arrives the sample selection is re-evaluated.

another small detail:

the Random Pitch device got a new mode that actually does not create random but rotates thru a number of notes. Now you can create a multisample with say ten different reordings of the same open hihat. Each time you hit the hihat you'll trigger a different hihat...did i mention before that there are many ways to create interesting things in this software ?

I've been using Sampler's 'sample selector' for pretty much the same results..

Simpler
Impulse (with decay set to 10s and "gate")
straight, unwarped audio clip.

- not neccesarily in that order. 4 kicks of each.

Which one sounds best? I think they all sound pretty much the same. Any difference I hear may as well be caused by temperature fluxuations in my studio or something.
I can definitely hear a clear difference between these. I'd take the first four or the last four. The third is definitely less punchy, more muffled. The second just slightly less oomph but good enough compared to the others. Could just be slight volume variation, nothing much. But the third is definitely way worse.

I'd love to know which was which. Machinate, please inform! Thanks.

Just listened again, at lower volume and I also noticed that there seemed to be a shorter decay on the third one. I'm really surprised you guys don't notice that. Much less punch and shorter decay. I'm suspecting it's impulse, but I really hope that was the phatmatik pro one.

C'mon, it's killing me!

I'm not sure if I heard differences between no. 1 and no. 2. First I thought that 2 sounds a tiny bit more dry/less sustained, but after listening for a longer time my ears became too weary and I'm not sure anymore. 3 is an easy pick though.

Simpler,

Impulse,

Audio Clip (fade on, teehee)

Phatmatik Pro.

Thus "proving" that Impulse does not have a problem, when the settings are right.
I am, however one of many who have complained that the default setting here is ridiculous... but hey...

Obviously, though the Impulse samples did leave kind of an uncouncious impression of being ever so slightly less pleasing than 1 or 4, as you can see from two of the above post (which were made before you revealed the sources used). Erm, one being from myself. :D
