The "Racks" are great. I love them, I really do, and I use them constantly.
However, in Ableton Live the Green Dot X-Y Pad, shown for every instrument/effect in the chain view, is my favorite thing of all. Ableton, I just adore that Green Dot pad and I use it to do all of my effect automation.
Why fiddle around with problematic latency-ridden USB gadgets and controls-mapping when you can record automation with the built-in Green Dot directly? The only problem: Macro Controls have only the eight knobs.
It would be ideal if the Macro Controls integrated a Green Dot Pad that could be mapped to Macro Controls. This would be the ULTIMATE SOLUTION, and would solve my remaining automation problem.
I think the Green Dot is the single greatest about Ableton Live. I wish it could be everywhere, but especially in Rack Macro Controls.
