transposing entire song
so i got my song layed out but i realized it's too high pitched. is there any way i can easily transpose the entire song or change it to a different key? or just the midi tracks?

I don't believe there is any kind of global pitch shift for an entire song.
For MIDI tracks you want to use the pitch effect from inside Live's MIDI effects folder and place it in front of each instrument. I'm not sure if you could somehow use this on an effects send for all MIDI tracks. I've never tried it.
For audio tracks there is a pitch control for each audio file in the information box in the bottom when you double click a clip.
You probably wouldn't want it to be entirely global anyway when you take drums and percusion into consideration. Might be handy though if you could select all the tracks you want shifted and then just do it with a single knob.

yeah i'm working with only midi tracks. but in garage band there is an option where you can easily change the key of the song. for example if you already have midi clips and tracks layed out you can change from key of C to key of E, and all of the notes in the song will be shifted. but i suppose i will do it to each track separatley, thanks.

There are so many basic features missing from Ableton. This software is meant to make it easier to create tracks not harder.

I've been wanting this feature since I registered here. Bitwig does it perfectly, and I really hope it comes with Live 10.
Re: transposing entire song
Hey guys, if you aren't part of it already. I'd recommend signing up for the ableton beta. And once you've done that going to the request features page and put this down. I'd also really like to see this feature, and I'm going to see if anyone else does (on the request features page).

How would it work? You have described the outcome you want, but how do you need it to be implemented?
At the moment there is no way to set the key for a track at all. There are good reasons for that, since I sometimes want the freedom not to have all the tracks in the same key. But without that, how would you do this practically?

I would be happy if I could just select a bunch of MIDI clips, and transpose them, just like we can already do with audio clips.
Of course, layered MIDI editing would be fantastic, but a simple MIDI transpose functionality would solve my problems.

OK, so this could take the form of another button on the Clip View. Shift pitch up and down by one semitone or an octave.
That could work. And it's actually a separate feature request.

This pair of Max for Live devices worked for me, and was much simpler to use than any other method of transposing multiple MIDI tracks.

Just a thought but you might be able to add a pitch envelope on the master bus and do it that way?

Is global transpose still not a feature in 2020?
