Pitchbend instead of Program Change lunacy

I've read several posts on this, searching for a solution, but none are offered. But several others here have posted this problem. When it midi assign mode, if you press program change on a keyboard, live records pitchbend. I used a midi monitor util, and my keyboard is not transmitting any pitchbend, the only thing it transmits is program 1 on channel 1. Unfortunately I can't manual assign the midi commands, and something is clearly wrong with it sensing program changes. I'm using Live 6 on OSX. I tried two different midi keyboards, with the exact same result, it's baffling. key note assignments work fine.

I forgot to mention, my VST instruments within live respond to program change messages from my keyboard controller just fine, so I know the midi is working, live midi map is not.

you cannot use program change msges for mapping

wow that's super lame.. yet another shortcoming of this program. Fortunately I found someone who made an app to deal with this flaw, called controlaid, works great.
