Analog,
I saw Junior Boys play live.
Ableton was running in the background... through there was other instumentation (live drums, synth, guitar, etc.)
Personally, I do everything with Ableton, except for occasionally using melodyne or adobe-audition. ( I use audition because it has a dummy-proof limiter that I use for my hack-attempts at mastering )

lol! i used to use that on the amiga. surely they were joking, that is truely *ancient*!tylenol wrote:Royksopp have said that as far as sequencing goes they actually use some ancient DOS software "Sequencer Plus Gold".
then again i heard that the extended spirit / jazzanova guys still program their beats on an atari, so i i guess anything's possible if you know your tools well enough.

i think it's interesting to note that a lot of the artists who use ableton (including many of those in artist's pages on ableton's web site) still use live exclusively as a performance tool - when you dig deeper into their interviews you see that they tend to use a completely different daw in the studio or only use live for warping loops before moving onto another sequencer.andrewbrewer wrote:Analog,

i suppose that's understandable considering many producers have been using those other daws in their studios for years. but i'm still surprised that so few artists quote live as being their main daw considering it's capabilities. the only ableton producer that comes to mind is chris lake though imho his stuff could probably be produced on a gameboy fwiw.

it's not that surprising once you realize that most established artists are part of the establishment, and the establishment currently relies on a certain specific set of tools to get work done. so going along with that is much easier (e.g., if everyone's got pro tools, much easier to ensure you can get work done if you're working on PT too)

Funny again. You´ll make it in the game, you great crack.
Btw, that many artists use Live live doesn´t mean they use it much in the studio. I know a bunch professionals who told me so, and there is no much reason to doubt that one.

the quality gap will only be apparant if the end user is capable of it. things dont sound THAT different, its not like you suddenly get a magical amazing recording by using hardware etc.radib wrote:Thats an extreme comparison. Sure there are people who can pull amazing sounds of cheapest equipment, but in general you will have a quality gap between both of those configs.sweetjesus wrote:i strongly believe in the right hands you will get better results from a behdinger mic + preamp + average soundcard + ableton than you would with Pro Tools HD + Neuman + Avalon microphones in the wrong hands
so many of todays recordings/productions are done with just computers. they beat productions and recordings made in the million dollar studios and massive SSL's people used to use in the past when it comes to fatness and punch and clarity, yet the computer is not ideal compared to those big expensive quality consoles.
I don´t like dropping names. Its vain. But its a thing that is widely common (using Live live - so hard to believe?).
And yeah, you´re right. It was a bluff. Ableton Live is preffered by the sound elite, not Logic, not Cubase, not Pro Tools. Yeah I don´t want you Abeflag-Village people get nervous.

oi dont be a retard, plenty of the top producers are now using live. stop being rabid and be radib.
Make children, they will follow your boring advice.
First: what in your eyes is a top producer in mine may be irrelevant. Its subjective what is "top". Further I don´t doubt that there is producers using live as main DAW. Just said knowing a bunch pros who use it more in live situations. Don´t know whats so hard in there to take.
