How good is the Torq Xponent

Post by rikhyray » Fri Oct 19, 2007 12:17 pm

DJ with whom I work wants to move to software. I saw Torq Xponent presentation and looks like the best integration of soft/hardware at the moment. Would be interesting to hear from anyone using it and also pros/cons.
It is new project, I want him to take the basic audio duties so I can concentrate doing my AV+VJ with Live/Arkaos+hardware. While now we are totally independent, except running some AV through my gear, Torq would probably let us integrate better. Going for Live with some controller would be better/easier for integration but with Torq he should be able to work instantly.
Any opinions ?

That wasnt too enthusiastic, Live + controller would be way better but that learning curve .... I dont know how hard it might be for turntable/CD fellow to get into advanced software like Live.
Would be interesting to hear from turntable/CD DJs how hard was the move to Live and what could be alternative to Torq - Live + ??? controller.

I came from a pure Vinyl background and migrated to Traktor using digital Vinyl on my 1200's on an old Mac PB 1.25 Ghz. It was very easy to migrate. Took about a day reading the manual and I was up and running.

I used this once playing out in a small club near London with Ableton. The software was flawless, obviously, but the internal sound interface was not very good at all, it kept havng silent spots and had some latency issues, not like any other m audio products I might add, as I own a projectmix and 410.

Stick to cdjs and Ableton with a simpler midi controller!!!
Thank you Lord for Ableton!!

Looks like another M audio product that could be good but........ we all know what.
What about Live ? How difficult was/is for DJs to get into. I have no clue since as musician who survived Logic,Cubase and co, Live was release.
What would be good reasons for DJ to go for Live instead of other apps other then obvious that I could help him getting going.
