Dblue Glitch users

Post by ARDJ » Sat Oct 20, 2007 10:09 pm

so in my new live set up, i'decided to have dblue glitch on a send for osme cool stutter and reverse tape effects.

it runs great on my desktop PC but when i run it on my Laptop is where we have the problems.

I won't even have ANY audio going to the send but if i turn Dblue Glitch on to get it ready, my computer immediatly starts crackling. i didn't realize it until i was up and playing last night, i was so dissapointed because i had to delete all the dblue's i was using.

anyone else have this issue? what is dblue glitch doing to my audio engine that its causing everything to crackle... i'm only at like 6-10% in CPU.

I've also been having trouble with Glitch, but of a different nature. After a long
session of mixing and tweaking, the plug simply stops working, and I cannot
bring up the UI by clicking the spanner symbol. All I get is the "close window"
X which is usually in the upper left corner of the UI. At other times, adjusting
Glitch parameters will end Live abruptly. Live simply vanishes from my monitor.

I'm beginning to wonder if there's some fundamental conflict on my computer
when I use plugins (though most plugs work just fine). So far, the plugins that
have caused me trouble are Kjaerhus' Classic Series (Live quits when I tweak
parameters), BlueCat's FreqAnalyst (after a while, projects that include this
plug won't open at all), in addition to Glitch.

Out of those, Glitch is the only one that really pains me, cause it's so infinitely
cool. We're getting a spectrum analyser in L7, and I'm quite content with Live's
native effects, so I can easily do without the other two. For now, I have to
resort to a silly workaround, which involves freezing/flattening a Glitch track
before it starts acting up.

i'm with ya man, but why glitch works on my desktop and not my laptop is beyond me. i'm going to dig in this weekend and see what the real problem is and why it would cause audible crackles when there's not signal being passed thru it.

tried older versions?

When is someone going to develop and OS X UB version? I'm sorry, but Major Malfunction doesn't cut it at all sound quality-wise. I regret ever paying for it.

on my computer glitch 1.2.1 works flawless, the version 2 has this crackle issue, it just starts crackling after a couple of minutes of idle, like if the device is on but no audio is going thru it...
I dind't bothered looking for a solution as I quite always switch effects off when in idle.

if i recall correctly, i think Glitch suffers from denormal issues on P4 computers. use this http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.p ... &subItem=6 and loaded *before* Glitch. what happens is that when there's no audio going through it it starts messing with your CPU. the Denormalizer sends a low audio/noise signal to the plugin to stop it from doing this...

try it, i think it should solve the problem (hopefully...)
