yeah, I really feel like I got what I paid for w/ the kmx. it helps that when I pestered them to add some features (sending MIDI CCs when you push down a knob to select a new channel, and a true incremental mode) they were incredibly fast about actually doing so!

I do wish it were possible to customize the acceleration curves, but with the incremental mode you can do that yourself in max/msp or whatever...

looking forward to rocking mine (along w/ the monome) at the Decibel festival in Seattle in (ulp!) less than a month.

But how do you work with it

Love the appearance of the kmx, but how do you really use the machine, practically, especially for laptop performances. Seems to me you need volume per track and some tweeking of effects and track startStop. Isn't it to limiting having to switch thru setsMenu's?

Not really sure what you mean by 'setsmenus', but if you mean pressing the buttons to switch channels - yes, of course its limiting to not have all your knobs laid out in front of you, but thats the tradeoff for extreme portability and a small footprint. You have to choose - lots of real knobs with a big footprint, or lots of virtual knobs with a small footprint?

Hello

How do you actually use the beautybeast? Aren't you getting dizzy having to push a button before tweeking all the time? I know less is more,,, and i think it'll work fine ..:,But.:;,
I suppose finetuning your set does the trick.

Mine's set up so I don;t have to switch scenes, what I see is what I get. Works fine for me.

I only really use 2 of the scenes a lot; simple enough (I use mackie control protocol and a helper app called LCXmu). After that, I know there is more space for any control I want to map in the future!

I had set it up so that each channel 1-8 corresponded to a track 1-8 and channel 9 was global controls; that works too but is a bit more to remember. Or you can set it up so that channel 1 controls fire clips and vol, ch 2 controls arm tracks and pan, etc.
