OK, here's what I am trying to achieve.
1) Kid beyond (KB) type punching in where I can record when I want, certain MIDI tracks
2) Th eability to switch betweeen various midi VST instruments as live inputs to playing over loops grooves
3) like KB the ability to then record certain variable bar loops that I think work, then be able to jam with those loops.
What I can do so far:
1) Record various loops , but inly by manually switching between what midi channels are armed and whether I have OVR selected (I did this by copying the KB set-up from Bomes site and changing for midi)
2) repeat for other channels
What I can't do is:
1) easily switch between which midi channnel (i.e. VST instrument I am playing).
2) Be able to add to a loop once recorded
3) Cope with the need to manually arnm tracks and click OVR.
Does Anyone have a Bomes/ Live solution to this?
Cheers
Steve

What kind of MIDI controller are you using? I use an M-audio keystation and it's very easy to switch between channels on the keyboard itself. I actually set up multiple tracks to different channels and arm ALL of them. And I map something to the "overdub" button.
Maybe this isn't a problem for you. Check a setting in Live's preferences that says, "exclusive arm" or something like that. You'll find it next to something like "exclusive solo." Take that off and you should be one giant step closer to being automatic. Just like Kid Beyond.

Midi controller does matter.
I have an Axiom, and there's a great tutorial on Modulate this that shows how to set up the Axiom pads and transport to record clips on the fly, record enable, trigger clips, etc. I've been messing with it, and it looks very useful for live performance so far.

Also, I should add that I use one of the bigger Axioms with lots of knobs and sliders.
If you need details, read on. Otherwise, don't bother:
I don't know how exactly you arm tracks with the smaller one. With my Axiom 49 I've discovered that I can arm tracks when in program 19 or 20. To do this, I simply hold the button under the master volume slider, and press the button under the slider of the track I want to record enable.
