Phantom clip + tempo automation...

Post by Sales Dude McBoob » Sat Oct 27, 2007 5:04 am

I'm messing around with an old DJ set. I just played a clip of a verse of a song, and halfway through the clip suddenly the x-fader wakes up and automates itself over to the other side, and the music stops because of it.

Perhaps I recorded that x-fader move accidentally at some point, but I swear I just played the same clip twenty minutes ago and it didn't happen.

Also, on the same clip, the freaking tempo got all automated out of nowhere and slowed itself down ten steps.

What's going on? Is there a way to dump all the automation?

This is happening in more than this one clip, so ditching that one clip isn't the solution I need.

I'm using Live 6.0.5 on a G5 tower running 10.4.3

Please, before you say "update to the latest" - tell me what you think is up.

Thanks to intuitive ole' Ableton I think I have it sorted, as far as the tempo automation goes.

I've just been combing through the set deleting all of the automation. When one of my clips slows itself down from say 125 to 110, the BPM box in the upper left of the screen gets a little red dot in it showing it was automated. So I just click the BPM box and hit delete and the little red dot goes away.

I haven't encountered an automated x-fade yet, but I'll do the same there when it happens.
