Well, giving them the benefit of the doubt, that probably just means they originally bought the live 4 box, and have bought download upgrades ever since. The code would be the upgrade's serial number. Presumably the live 6 upgrade was bought within the last month.

...which essentially makes AL 7 at $75 a steal. And if you sell off your current license, you can use the difference to buy one of the new instruments.

Hmm, I wonder if this is legit. It's not a completely impossible scenario, though unlikely. And it's about half an hour drive from me. It's almost worth it just for the beta.
