RE:AU installation NewBie question

Hi
I just made a move to mac.I need to understand the installation of AU.Not really familiar as some plugins show up and others don't .IS there a link to a primer which explains .In pc it was pretty simple to just place the dll files in the vst plugins folder

please help

PC user here but it should be the same dealio, put the files into one directory, point Live to that directory. sub-directories show up as folders.

I think your question should be why some aren't showing up. which aren't showing up, what kind are they?

there is this odd thing going on, ESPECIALLY with some freebees...

try both AU locations, some work:

user->

some

system->

plug in location...

they are residing in the Library>Audio>Plugins>Components Folder but cannot be seen in Live .Some are seen like apple and MDA but the others not
Its already setup in the preferences of live

try to swapp the ones that don't show... there are two Library>Audio>Plugins>Components paths

one is:

user->Library>Audio>Plugins>Components

and the other is:

system->Library>Audio>Plugins>Components

make sure the ones that are not showing up are universal binary (UB).
some freebies are not... most payware is.

If they aren't showing up then odds are there is a compatiblity issue with the individual plugins. Check for updates. You shouldn't have to do any elaborate installation schemes. They either work or they don't.

I think this might be your problem right here,,
You shouldn't need to jump through hoops using both directories on OS X,,,

i did not wrote this because i am bored, there are several UBs that only work in the one or other location... and not only in my specific case!! [ask the plug-in programmers why!]

also, yes if they are not ub in the first place they want work.
