Anyone tell me why my mixes are coming out really quiet... any way i can boost the volume without my master going crazily red
. My mastering skills are aweful i guess......

Yeah, it all about mastering. It all comes down to EQ and compression really. Preferably multiband and some nice amp modeling or something.
I use T-Racks as a mastering pluggin, its a great analogue modeled mastering package.

Check out my tunes on my myspace below, they are all pretty pumping and loud with no clipping etc. If you start with some of the mastering presets in T-Tacks will help you understand the effect that each element involved in the mastering has so will understand how to achieve the results you want better.
Definatly a worthwhile purchase. You can of course do all that it does for free though with a combination or compression, eq and limiting etc, but I find that the bundle of T-Racks works really quickly and easily to improve the output of my tracks.
