YESSS!!!!! That's what I'm talking about!! That right there is what Ron Paul offers that no other candidate offers, and the main reason I will vote for him and support him.

Yeah man, I think you're allowed to vote for who ever you want. I mean, your vote won't actually get counted or anything, but it at least feels like you did something.

he is implying that Ron Paul won't get the nomination, you can only vote in the primary for the party you are registered as.

Switch affiliations! :)

so, in America you have to register to 'be' with one party or other and then you can only vote for that party?
that's just weird.

We can vote however we like. Usually we vote in different ways locally and nationally, for reasons too boring to tell you. But then American politics looks like some sort of Saturday afternoon kids show to be honest, everyone just shouts 'pinko homo liberal fag' and then the one with the most money wins.

As for this Ron Paul guy, isn't he kind of a racist, 'pro-life', retreat from reality kind of a guy?

I thought his anti-war stance was mainly due to a 1970's style survivalist bunker mentality, you know, private armies and conspiracy theories about "them Euro gnomes with their commie liberal homo ways plottin against our freedoms". etc etc.

I've never been sure why people seem so keen on him. just because he voted against a war? Is that it, or is it because of the tax thing. man you guys are more desperate than us if that's the case.

I'm sure you can read in wikipedia about the primary election system.

As for RP, his approach to foriegn relations is the closest thing to sane we have seen here in over 50 years. And yes, we ARE desperate here. Look at who our pres has been for 8 fucking years!!!!!!

The Primary (pre-election) determines which candidate from which party gets the official backing of the party. Only those registered for that party can vote in those elections, obviously. After that is the main election, where anyone is free to vote for whoever they like. Ron Paul won't win his party, so I'll never get to vote for him.

No. And while I'm not saying I agree with him 100% about everything (can anyone say that about any politician?), it is clear that he is the most honest, no-nonsense candidate who wants real change and to bring America back to pre-9/11 sanity. He wants real reform for our internaitonal relations, and for that alone he'll never succeed. But he's right.

He is 'pro-life' but he's not trying to push it down anyone's throat with legislation. That's one of the thngs I like about him... he is personally 'pro-life' but his stance on it is that the Federal government has no business making laws about it. That should be decided on a state or local level. In his view, which I tend to agree with, the more controversial and difficult a subject is, the more locally it should be handled.

I have not heard him say anything that could be remotely construed as racist.

I am for him because he is basing his campaign on returning the Federal government to a Constitutional basis. Thus, he is against the war not just based on debatable moral reasons, but on the hard fact that the Constitution prohibits going to war without declaring war, which is what the US has done since WWII. He is against the Federal Reserve in part because part of the founding of the US was getting away from central banks, because of experiences in Europe that proved central banking to be an easy way to manipulate economies, and thus nations.

If he were to be elected I know he wouldn't be able to accomplish everything he wants to, but I definitely feel we need him in there to counter all the damage done by Bush et al over the last 100 years. I certainly don't hear any other candidate breaking it down the way he does. Not evern remotely freaking close.

Ah I see, it's because he needs to be in the actual running for presidency to be voted for by the general populace.
that makes more sense.

Anyone know if the party HAS to pick the candidate that wins the Primary?
