hey guys, i sure you are all interested in what people do with ableton, i decided to start using ableton as my main sequencer and have finished using it for practically everything, i have put three new tracks up on my website for anyone and everyone to have a listen.. its a definite mix, the first is very riff driven, the second is BT esque melodic dnb tinged electronic, the 3rd is chillout..
goto http://www.cicatrixonline.co.uk if you want a listen, the tracks arnt totally mastered, but u get the drift

hey josh,
overall, good stuff! the only thing i could suggest is that you arrange/mix in a way that emphasizes dynamic changes - these mixes are too even with no real energy changes from verses to choruses, etc. even little things like slight gain increases in the hooks go a long way to keep the energy flowing.
cheers,

the third one is really nice! it's the strongest of the 3 imo, but nice work all around.
dunno if you want critique, but i tend to agree with the above poster's comments about the dynamics--just change it up a lil'. something else i noticed is that certain elements are way more present than the others, like the high-hats, and they don't blend that well-- they don't sound bad at all, they just sit in the mix funny according to my ears. having said that, it's better mixing than i can do
kudos

thanks for the comments guys.. i had to master the tracks in the two days before i went to china, so it was rushed to be honest, and a good thing as i can now listen to the songs and go over them, and you are fully correct, the dynamics is the first on the bill when mastering..
when normalising, do you guys use logic.. ? cos im assuming i will go that route,, or is there a way to make it all live?
thanks for the comments..
