DJ'ing - Ableton & Axiom 25
I'm a club DJ and would like to incorporate Live with my dj sets. I use Serato, turntbables, and would like to bring in another laptop with Live and my axiom 25. I want to be able to use drops, sound effects, looping, all that.
How do i do this?

It all depends on what you plan on doing with the keyboard.
If you just want to trigger samples and use the knobs for effects and sliders.
You should consider buying a M-Audio Trigger Finger, it's much more compact than the Axiom and you'll have 16 pads for triggering samples.
I would think having a keyboard would be better suited for a live performance/playing.
To avoid using the synths keyboard you can use the laptop keyboard for triggering samples.

I really like the TF for my DJ setup. I use half of the pads, tied to an instance of Impulse, for triggering samples. The other pads I use as two rows of 4 (for the A & B crossfade channels) to toggle low/mid/high cut (on EQ3) and toggle cue. There are four nice long sliders which I use for A/B volume, cue volume, and crossfade, and 8 knobs which can be used for tempo, effect sends, etc.mreda wrote: If you just want to trigger samples and use the knobs for effects and sliders.

I also really like that it can run entirely off of USB power and fits neatly in my messenger bag along with my laptop, which makes a WONDERFULLY mobile setup.
The only thing that could make it more perfect for me is if there were a couple more knobs and a couple of programmable buttons with status lights, but there will always be more stuff to wish for, right?
A bit off subject... if you're looking at getting a TF your notebook will need to have some pretty hefty power on its internal usb bus. My notebook (and many other people's..) lack the necessary power out to run a tf of the bus power alone and need a powered usb hub (it tends to die in the middle of sets without it). my axiom, however, has plenty of power. Why is this? God only knows...

only b/c i'm ASSUMING the lessons in live on your computer have been called up to kick in innocent iraqi doors by the US gov't b/c they joined the nat'l guard to pay for college and didn't stop to think that there actually being a war in this time of global peace and goodwill was a possiblity here is how you do it:
using a keyboard to trigger samples is the easiest thing on the planet. ctrl-m to enter midi mapping. press the clip slot of the sample you want to trigger with your mouse. press the desired key or pad on your keyboard. press ctrl+m. done. alternatively load samples into impulse slots and play the notes impulse is auto-mapped too (which i don't know off hand b/c i use pads).
Assuming this helps: I'll stick a yellow ribbon magnet on my car, say a prayer to baby jesus that your tutorials lodge more bullets in flesh than they receive and and hope your tutorials are really shockin' and awein' those poor folks. Go US BOMBS and GUNS!
