Sampler and EXS file imports...
Sampler and EXS file imports...
I've been reading about Sampler, and since I can get it and the downloadable upgrade to Live 6 for $233, it's looking pretty tempting.
I'm curious to know what kind of experience people have had importing EXS files.
Did you find that it worked well?
Can you batch import, or do you have to import them one at a time?
I have Logic Pro 8, and its rather large EXS library, and it would be nice to have the samples available in Ableton Live.
Thanks in advance,
- zevo

infinite density, zero volume
i use sampler to do the exs24 export all the time and what it does is duplicate it into the aleton file format so make sure you have a good amount of hard drive space. go and buy and external if you have to. overall i export exs24 and akai s1000/s3000 libraries all the time and sampler works for me.

sure
it is a pretty easy thing to do.
open your browser window in Live, find your EXS file and then just drag and drop into the main window, and then Sampler will open automatically with the EXS file you just selected!
as far as batch imports, i never tried it, but after you create your first imported file in live (as described above) under Sampler as new file is created called "imported"
So it is possible that you could just copy the entire EXS library over...

Re:
Old thread I know, but to update I'm pretty sure Sampler does not do batch imports from EXS24 (or anything, that I know of).tomz.biz wrote:anyone know how to batch import exs into sampler? i've been trying various methods, with no success. i'd really like to have this feature!!

Re: Sampler and EXS file imports...
I'm also finding that many of the patches I just converted from EXS --> Sampler don't sound very similar to the original at all.

Don't waste your time....
the big problem is that there are no "choke" groupings in the Sampler, so transferring all your EXS drum kits will not be smooth at all. You have to figure all kinds of stupid racks etc...

Re: Sampler and EXS file imports...
yeah it only works if the EXS patch is very vanilla.
I like GoldBaby libraries and his custom patches never come over right but he does a set of "raw" patches and those will import correctly. So those are the only ones that are useful in Sampler. Kind of a disappointment.

Waste of time.
No batch import.
Duplicates samples.
Doesn't often sound right.
If you can get your hands on Kontakt, it's much better. Loads EXS files directly and sounds pretty right.

Thank u Ableton OG's
This is what I was noticing, but couldn't believe it. Glad I didn't waste more time importing EXS files than I did.
PS what up to Nylarch in Brooklyn,,
