I hope I can manage to retain my ability to FULLY UTILIZE my"toys"
(Thankyou, Jimmy) and the man who can no longer "play" or no longer cares for toys to the point that he has attempted to insult Live users with some awfully childish prose, I will be praying for you, don't give up, you will be all right, Logic is a "real fine" application. Please, knock yourself out!
All the way out.
Will you be ditching Logic or Cubase for L4?
Since Notator/Atari wrote:Are you kidding ?
How do you dare comparing ?
1. the sound
2. the GUI (fisher prize meets Toys R Us)
3. the plugin/CPU ratio effectiveness (try applying 10 amplitudes in realtime in Live...)
4. the sound (metallizer alltimes on)
only people takin music not seriously (like most of Live users kiddies Pseudo DJs) or without ears and common sense would ditch Lap or Cux.
That doesnt mean that Live isnt a great proggie, being a prof. DAW is just not its purpose, its purpose is being an inspiring and funny toy.
Why are you here? if you want to piss off some folks keep it up
By the way how's about a link to listen to YOUR music?
I would like to learn about the sounds produced by someone like you who I assume IS serious about music

Logic will always have a special place in my heart - I work sooo blisteringly quick in that program, but linear audio is a thing of the past for me.
Live allows me to recombine sounds in realtime, work in layers, resample, reuse.... Also really, really quick, but in a comfortable, ergonomic fashion.
IF I had a big-ass G5 I would probably use Logic AND Live, but perhaps mainly for nostalgic reasons?

Thats what I'm talkin bout; to each his own; thank goodnees we are each unique and quite different; I use in my first built pc, not just ATAor IDE drives but scsi as well... each for its own strengths
diversification does well in most aspects of everything
ps
could someone enlighten me.. what are;
Lap?
Cux?
Proggie?
If I live long enough I fully intend to learn to use:
Cubase
"Logic"
slide rule
mig fighter
If I had my choice the Mig gets my vote to be the easiest

Apples and Oranges
Live is a totally different program than Logic/Cubase. I love Live for all of my loop based jams, but my bread and butter is film scores - Live doesn't let open you QuickTime Movies, has no tools for real mixing and mastering, and doesn't really function too well for non-looping music styles. Also, Logic's effects are top notch, and I find Live effects pretty basic and (no offense) a bit boring. Also, for specific (as opposed to creative random) sound design, Live can't compare. By this I mean, yeah, sure I can make some whacked out sounds on Live, but if a client comes to me and says "I need you to clean up this audio, pull out that 60Hz hum, add a bit of reverb on that voice, and then increase the stereo spread", Live isn't really gonna be able to cut it.
Having said that, I would never take Logic out to do a live PA. I tried it before (this is in about '93) and never will I make that mistake again. Live is without a doubt the most solid software for... like the name says; Live.
