help! crackles & dropouts before a japan tour

also, forgot to mention for some weird reason, the cpu in taskmanager often shows 30-70%, but i checked, it does not go up to 100% so that the problems are not related to that, i still wonder about the high cpu use overall, i am not using ANY live-effects or any other external equipment except a midicontroller, while playing live!! the cpu in ableton never shows any more than 20% btw.

also having problems with crackles and pops on 3.0.2 sets and new sets in 4.0.1. i have never heard a crackle or pop or snap for that matter on previous versions of live. Inspiron 8600, 512, 60GB, Centrino 1.4, Tascam US-122.

Any general suggestions for these type of issues would be much appreciated. I'm running the exact same setup - Inspiron 8600, 512MB RAM, etc. I'm having the same problems: audio dropouts. Is there a laptop that runs this software without these problems?
