ok this is weird, i now have this lady set as my desktop picture on my 2nd monitor and i'm writing music and now she does one full anti clockwise turn and then 1 full clockwise turn. and this just alternates. Is their something wrong with my brain.. god i hope so :-)

when i look at it early in the morning when i start work she is usually going clockwise, then when i wake up she starts going the other way. it is a trip how we perceive things

edit: i did take this gif apart frame by frame to make sure there was no trickery going on. there is not.

i believe what the makers said is by using the left side of your brain more makes her go clockwise. and using the more creative side makes her go counterclockwise.
this is ace, mine keeps flipping backwards and forwards, depeninding on what i'm doing, sitting here listening to music its going anti clockwise, as soon as i start clicking around my desktop and working it goes clockwise, i can make this thing change at will, its amazing.
you're freaking me out here

I even tried turning the radio on - so far it's only been clockwise for me
hey forge, to get this bitch to start going the other way, try monging your eyes out, and totally relax your brain, the more you concentrate on making her go anti-clockwise the more your using the right side of your brain.

:D :D HA HA!!!! I started sort of focusing on her foot but out of focus and it started going anti - then I thought about posting my findings and it went back!!!!

I've now had about 4 beers so I wonder if that helps

I find that if I concentrate on her feet it's easy to make her change direction.

Does that mean I have a foot fetish?

I have a colour sampler add-on to my browser so it makes it easy for me to say , both squares are R:120 G:120 B:120

any webdevelopers out there.

and as far as the spinning woman goes, huh?!?
it's all clockwise for me, with no change whatsoever, not a flicker or a hint.

there appears to be nothing I can do to change directions, I scooped my eyeballs out and set them in a jig with a couple of prisms, still clockwise. You people are weird.

was like that for me at first

but the evening's progressed, chilling out, listening to music and she is mostly going the other way now

in fact I've started looking back it it like it's a CPU gauge to see what kind of headspace I'm in

funny enough, when she's spinning to the left it's a much nicer, warmer feeling

weirdly
clockwise = right side of brain , which is the spacey side. The left side is the logical side

that's the rotational correlation given in the original article anyway
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/ ... 61,00.html

so my fixed clockwise rotation makes me gandalf the mystical space elf, which seems unlikely.
If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

I think this is rigged. Every time I come to this page, it rotates counter, and then the animated gif has a slight hickup, and then it turns clockwise after a few seconds.

That spinning lady is truly cool ... all over the place for me ... one moment spinning right, and the next spinning left ... interestingly my 3 year old son sees it more or less as one spin right, and the next spin left ... his young brain seems particularly well balanced

Anyway, for all those who still doubt the coloured squares illusion, here is the proof:

I thought that as well ... but now I have come to the conclusion that it is not the GIF that is glitching, but my perception!!!

I reach this conclusion because I looked at this image with a group of co-workers, and we all seen different things. Some people seen it spin right, and some seen it spin left at the same time, and we all saw it change at different times. When I seen it glitch, and change direction, it was still spinning solidly for my coworkers (and vice versa)

Strange shit!!

that's what I thought but Dango did a frame by frame breakdown
