no sound output

Post by otak » Tue Nov 13, 2007 1:34 am

Hi, I'm new with Live Lite 5.2, got it with new M-Audio 192 sound card that I use for input through mixer. Got 2nd card SoundBlaster Audigy for output. Sound output is good everywhere (Windows XP PRO, Guitar Pro, Cubase, etc). BUT NO SOUND OUT IN LIVE !! Can't figure it out. Please help ! thanks

Welcome =)

If you're using ASIO (and you should be), you can only use one card for both input and output, unless:

1) your card drivers allow stacking of multiples of the same card (some M-Audio and Terratec cards allow this, but it's a rarity), or;
2) you use an aggregate driver like ASIO4All (which actually uses the WDM drivers- WDM lets you stack cards to your heart's content).

Thanks, you're great !

You got me thinking about it. I changed the driver for MME/directX and then I could hear the sound from my SoundBlaster card. (Don't see anything about ASIO4all)

Quality is good but I hear the sound about 1 second after, is that what they call latency? Is there a way to fix that ?

Thanks again.

Yep, that's what's called latency. It's why you avoid MME/DX drivers and use ASIO; MME/DX drivers aren't suited for low latency audio apps.

As for ASIO4All;

Your m-audio interface has ASIO drivers iirc, if they're not in the Audio section of the menu then reinstall the M-Audio drivers. No need for ASIO4ALL, no need for the soundblaster Audigy output.

True, but I figured he had some reason why he wanted to use both cards.

I thought you did ;), but i just wanted to stress to him that he shouldn't bother with the Audigy.
