hey dude, just sent you an email about other stuffs... good seeing you last friday.
I know you are wanting the hoff to holla but I got here and have done similar although usually on my array of PCs..
So my laptop cannot handle this task. One instance for music, one instance to be midi host to send out messages to my other ableton, and to VJsoftware(I take it you are still running arkaos). My 2.4 dualcore w/ 2gigs of ram and 128MB graphics mem can not handle this. It works but my processor is maxxed and my frame rate is about 7-15 fps... and hit some audio effect triggers and you might be hearing buffer crackle.
My OCed Quad with dual SLI graphics can handle this though. I send all midi to one instance of live and midi out to midiyoke. midi split to send to ableton running sound and Resolume. However even this beast will start to experience performance issues...
the best way I have found is to use some kind of application layer protocol for sending midi over gigabit network. one box (my dualcore lappie) rocks visuals and doesnt even get touched other than setup. second 1.8celeron with 64mbgraphicsmem runs sound and is host for midi transmission as well as running sound. both machines midi timecode is locked in so my knob to change in ableton changes the sync in resolume... hopefully in a few years we
With current hardware I am having to utilize two machines but as time goes on our hardware gets a lot better really fast. Hopefully in a few years we will have some spare cycles to utilize..
Much luv, I havent made a post here in like 6mo....

hey D,
Did Napalm help you?
I cant advice much on this issue, since I prefer doing as much in 1 instance of Live as possible.
Your best bet would be to talk to Hambone. He's been doing this for years. Ligthing, video, camera panning, dancemat to trigger stuff,...
He's the real master of Dummy Clips
Cheers
