VST linking to controller problems

Post by DiMuTech » Tue Nov 13, 2007 12:37 pm

Hi

On some plugin instruments(For example FM8) I can press the arrow and all the LFO, filter, delay etc (which can be linked to my controller and automated) pop up in the bottom panel. Which is great. However with some instruments like Albino and Atmosphere I can't do this or even automate it on the instrument itself. I mean I can move the knobs but I can't record what I've done. So any automation on the LFO for example in Atmosphere is not possible at all.

Does anyone know how to get round this problem?

If I remember correctly, Atmosphere has set controllers for everything; you can't reassign them.

For Albino, you need to use the ECS button and assign them inside the synth itself.

I'm using Albino 3, and the Unfold Device Parameters button (in the device title bar in the lower panel) works just like with any other instrument; it shows the parameter sliders which can be assigned to a controller via the normal MIDI learn function in Live. Unfortunately, due to the infamous 128 parameter limit, only SOME of the Albino's many parameters can be assigned this way.

Similarly, I can record Albino controller movements into Arrangement view by moving the Albino controls with a mouse, but only for the first 128 parameters.

Sadly I do not know of a way to use Albino's built in ECS (Easy Controller Setup) from inside of Live.

I'm aware of this section as I stated in my original post. However you may have noticed there is a lot of parameters that even you probably don't use. Is there any way to change them to something of my choice? ie parameters within the mod matrix like LFO 1 frequency, is this possible?

Is this the mod matrix section? If it is you can't assign anything within it

No, there is currently no way to automate any of the parameters other than the first 128. Go here

and sign the petition and maybe we can encourage Ableton to fix this in Live 7.
