An elevator is at "100% capacity" (24 people).

Three more people jump on the elevator, now what capacity is the elevator at?

maybe if you have enough time to waste with the forums search engine you can search for that thread were people reported weird live cpu hit ( use your superb caps lock capabilities the search engine will surely works greater that way)

i'm not telling the physical cpu usage is over 100%, THIS is impossible.

But sometimes with some plugs, live cpu meter peaks badly and most of the time it crashes ( here)

Here it happens with my powercore compact.

Looks like it's live misinterpreting the cpu charge.

Dunno if it's happenning on mac.

have fun

Over 100%? You're releasing computing power back into the universe, CPU fusion!!

yep

live used that way becomes a time travel portal too ( 3 parsec before the fusion in fact )

exciting isn't it ?

How much RAM have you got? My computer CPU peaks high and glitches when its running out of RAM... Just ordered another GB maybe you need more to do what you want...

your specs looks ok

I don't know what xp media center is exactly, on of his media functions ca be in conflict with your sound card or with live.

Build yourself a profile for audio where windows is pretty basics and check if it works.
You can also go in your beos and mess with your irq a bit to have your soundcard alone on one.

Hope it helps a bit

Hello,

I've got the same problem here.
I'm using Ableton Live 6 with a MacBook Core 2 Duo & 2 giga ram.
Sometimes, when I'm tweaking some plug-ins pots the CPU overload suddenly for 1 or 2 seconds, while my project are normally between 20 and 30 %.
Is this because of the graphic card ?

Hello Blank,

Sorry for my late reply.

I'm running with the latest OSX available.

I'm still having trouble with this sudden overload CPU.
All my softs are clean.

You will have to search a bit to find in what context live start behaving that way.

Maybe there is a plugin involved.

try to load audio files in the ram just to see if the problem is solved.

since live 6.09 my cpu meter is always stable

but i'm on pc.

Overload always happens when I tweak with my mouse a plug-in parameter, wich was not in use for a while. It makes it once the it's ok.
It's a little bit like if a plug-in was sleeping in Live and I suddenly wake it up, so it is really surprised and it makes Live Overload.

This happen with Live Plug-in and also with others ( Ohmforce )

Look like your best guess is to mail the support.

I have seen the cpu meter hit 278% and sometimes more..but that is realy I thunk a measure of the size of the overload. It realy has nothing to do with percentages as such.

However, since this seems to be irritable to some users, the Abes might consider rewriting the algorithm so that the meter will show something else over the 100% reading. Probably a new Overload Meter starting at 1. What do you think...anyone?
