Audio Interface usb 1? Sound Card

Post by JimJams » Sat Nov 24, 2007 9:44 am

Hi. Complete noob to ableton.Looking for an audio/usb interface to use with turntables/bass (maybe live). Just wondering if usb 1 interfaces would have latency problems or anything else wrong compared to usb 2.

Also buying a new desktop to run Ableton and other programmes like Vjamm.Done some reading myself but wondering if anybbody had any advice for what to go for?
Any help apreciated.

Thanks,
Jamie

I think most components support USB 2.0 these days, so I don't think you'd be saving a whole lot of money from 1.0. As for latency issues, make sure you get a quality, LOW LATENCY sound card which supports ASIO 2.0, along with enough CPU power and atleast a Gigabyte if not 2 GB of RAM. This is crucial if you want to record in real time. M-Audio and E-MU make good recording sound cards. I use Audigy 4 Pro and haven't had any problems with latency with it.
