First Performance

Just a quick note to say I used Live for the first time at a show last weekend and everything went off without a hitch. Without a doubt this is the best solution I have ever used in a performance context,it truely allows you to shape things on the fly and effectively react to crowd response like nothing else.

Keep up the good work ! :D

since Deadbeat's a friend of mine, I'll answer this question for him... he does original work, and I believe he now uses live for sequencing as well as performance. You can look up his website for info on his music www.techno.ca/deadbeat

his system consists of a pc laptop (an Acer, I believe? I can't remember) with a WaMi box as an audio interface and a Phat.Boy midi controller.

I personally use a Ibm Thinkpad T22 with an emagic EMI 2|6 and MT4 and have had absolutely no problems.

As far as suggestions go, get the fastest machine you can get! Having a high resolution screen helps tremendously, especially if, as I do, you run 14 tracks of loops simultaneously and don't want to have to scroll horizontally.

Hope this helps

Deadbeat is right, I just did a newYearsEve show after installing 'live' the night before. After a mad frenzy to export all my reason and reaktor files to loops I performed a 3 hour continous set on just 1 laptop.
The best part is that even with my dell inspiron internal ESS card the audio never glitched. :)

Madd crazy props to the creators!!!

I'll be jamming on Live tonight@9pm MST via a webcast at www.azsessions.com. Tune in to hear it in action.

my experience with the software has been very similar -- i was able to play an impromptu set with it (as opposed to my hardware setup, which is basically a less-streamlined Live equivalent).

by impromptu, i mean that -- aside from the half-hour it took to organize my loops -- it took me about 20 minutes to become very comfortable with the software.

by streamlining the interfacing of such activities, Live makes it exponentially easier to achieve what is the goal in the first place: to interact with the listener in a meaningful way.

and with the new nudge feature in Live 7 DJing becomes that much more flexible.
