Can someone give me a step by step Idiots guide to setting this up to control Live. I'm pulling my hair out at this stage, I've got it working twice only since september. Basically it doesn't always send midi data to live. As I said I got it working twice and stored all the settings only to start it up again the next day and there was no movement. I' so pissed off at this stage i'm considering throwing it out the window. Please I'm desperate to get this working. Please don't tell me to read the manual as I wouldn't be asking any of you lot if I understood the manual. Behringer just asked me to contack Ableton. I have the x-session too and that was as simple as plugging in and midi mapping. I use a sony vaio with vista as os.

first thing i'd check is if the BCR sends correct midi information: get midi-ox (if you haven't, it's free and usefull), and look at the data the BCR sends for each knob.
if it seems ok, it might be a problem with your setup in live.

make sure the BCR is plugged in and turned on before you start your puter.

your preferences look like they're properly set up - go into midi map mode in Live, click on a volume slider, tweak a knob, leave midi map mode, tweak the knob again.

Any response from Live when you tweak the knob the second time?

Looks like there is only communication with live sometimes, as I said I had it working again on Friday for a couple of hours but when I switched off the laptop and powered back up there was no communication. I thought it might be something to do with the way I have to controller set up and not ableton as my x-session works perfectly.

It really isn't that complicated; it sounds like you may have a bad unit.

the midi-ox test would probably answer that.

So how do I do that, is midi ox compatable with vista?

yeah, just go to midi-ox.com, download and install, open the BCR midi port and check what happens in the midi input window when you tweak knobs.

You're double checked midi devives in options to make sure live can see the BCR and input is selected? (Live has lost the connection on occasion for me after rebooting).

Are there any controller outputs the same as for the X-session? Could there be a conflict?

Are you using Mackie control or Automap? Could there be a conflict between these settings and your midi map assignments? Not sure if this can happen, just a thought.

Duff Midi or usb cable?

Or a faulty unit?

Mackie contro or auto map, I just go to preset 1 and edit. This is why an idiots guide might help, this could be something really simple and I end up looking like a tool :D

I din't know you were using automap; your prefs DONT look correct for that (or for mackie control). Your prefs are set up (in the image you posted at ALDJ) for straight ahead one control at a time midimapping. So try the test I suggested - Map one knob to one slider, and see if it works correctly.

Sorry you misunderstood the last post, I'm not using either. I presume auto map is using BCR on the remote control option. What I was saying is I just go to preset 1 and edit, don't use automap or macki control.
