MPC drumpads vs Impulse: latency + errors

Hi,

my setyp: akai mpc 2000xl, ableton 6 + some synths.
soundcard: motu 828 firewire.

1)i load the pads of the impulse with .wav drumsounds.
2)i play the sounds via my mpc drumpads.
3)i record them via my mpc sequencer, so i have the midi data on my mpc.

when i play this recorded sequence, and or record this in ableton, on a midi track.
then it sounds unnatural, with latency, and also in some runs, some beats are skipped, as if the computer can't keep up with the data played.

i have a pretty good computer, no cpu stress. i have a good quality soundcard.

can someone explain the latency + the fact that some drumbeats are completely skipped in some runs of the sequence?

Did you get this sorted out? Or does anyone know whats going on here? I plan to do the same thing (sequence Live via midi with an MPC). I don't wanna run into any timing or sync issues.

Mush, did you sync Live as a slave to the MPC as the master? How are you syncing them? MTC or clock?
