My Motu UltraLite LCD is flickering......?

it doesn't flicker completely off it gets dim and then bright, is this common or anything to be worried about. I've had it for only 7 months.

i don't own, but does that affect the sound/performance??? if not, it may be that it's connected to a questionable power source. try connecting to another outlet somewhere else in the studio. and if it is a questionable power source, stop using connecting it form and use another source, that way you do not fry your machine (it's happened to me).

Bump, because this is happening to me as well, with the UL plugged in to the wall; I never use bus power. Will try updating firmware/OS and report back.

I also have it plugged into a power conditioner, and it's happened to me on different computers.

likely it's a loose connection to the backlight. open it up and reconnect it or send it back while it's still under warranty. the OS would just turn it on or off, as for power, it would be dim or not work if the power was flaky.

you didn't play trance through it, did you? handbag house can also lead to those kinds of failures.

Tone Deft is right, it's a loose connection and it's very easy to fix. It happened to me one month ago while travelling.

Don't send it for repair and then wait weeks before you can do music again.

Just unscrew the two top screws, remove the lid and after a short time of
amazement (gee, that box is fucking empty!) you'll see a little grey-beige cable
with a long black rectangular plastic end: this is the female connector.
It should plug to a thin metal sort of pin, and yes the connection is really loose.
Once you've plugged it back you should be fine, you can even bus-power up the
device to check it's working even while it's open and naked (coffee mugs ought to keep off).

P.S. When it happened to me my warranty had been over for just one week, and I was abroad in the jungle fortunately sampling a screwdriver.
So if you have a motu staffman at hand...
