Recorded drums on ableton live

Hello!

I'm currently working on a demo with my band and I'm doing it all with ableton. We've just recorded the drumtracks through a mixingtable, each track on one audiotrack.
In my opinion, the sound isnt that bad but sometimes I would like a little less hi-hat and so on...
Is there an effect or a mastering-tool on ableton with wich I can make the drumtracks sound better?

Do you have your whole drums mix recorded into a stereo track or each drum or drum group in it's own track?

EQ is your best friend. Compression is a cool buddy who stops by once in a while and you share some drinks, but you avoid seeing him too often because of the awful hangovers.

the best thing to have done would to have turned down the volume on the hi-hat track.

Any trick from here on out will have side effects.

First EQ.

Then try compression. Try using COmpressor II in Live, and turn in the side-chain EQ, and empahsize the highs.

Or download a multiband compressor.

Still, hi-hats can often sound really loud without actually being loud, which makes a compressor less useful... and they can be quite noisy, which makes EQing them more difficult.
