crossfades
crossfades
My only beef with Live, the only thing missing for me, is the possibility to crossfade two clips playing in the same track. Especially in the arrangement view.

This has been demanded quite a few times I think, but I will give it a HUUUUGE +1
Anybody on Linux? I used Ardour the other day... you know, that FREE DAW. The crossfading was just so great. I felt so powerful lol, it really helped my work and sampling. Anyhow, if Live could get something of the likes, it would be magical (and boost production side of live).

Please, please, please add two clip, single-track crossfades. I was hoping for this in Live 6; to not see it in Live 7 was a big time disappointment. Really need some sort of grouping or multi-selecting too...

I've bugged them about it for a few years, as have others. So they certainly are aware of the request
I think they have been looking at how best to do it for quite a long while now. It's not just a matter of sticking a graphic on there and calling it done, a mistake in implementation would haunt them for many versions. They would need to re-write the underpinnings of the app to deal with it and also try and make sure it delivers benefits elsewhere in the app.
For all I know the recent versions of Live have been restructured to create the foundations of this. Thats my guess / hope anyway.
I think there things which go on in updates which we don't know about - moving the foundations around without disturbing the residents on the top floor.
They certainly know that we want it though, that's all I can say for certain.

Yes,
crossfades would definitely make Live a better tool for DAW applications. Yet I've never had trouble with clips clicking when I resize them unlike in other Daws, and they seem to flow together perfectly as long as I'm not the one messing up my cues... So that would be a plus, but I don't seem to miss them as much as I should because of Live's excellent "clip resizing" design...

Most of the time I agree, but the times that I have needed it, I really needed it, and seeing that every other DAW has it, and Live is my favorite DAW by far, it really sucks big time when I run into a problem with no solution. It's hard to take a DAW seriously when it refuses to add one of the most basic features of a DAW. There are so many great things about Live, but this lack and a few other basic ones (track groups, multiselect) really put a stain on such an amazing program.
