layer up audio loops on one track?

Post by carsandtrains » Thu Nov 29, 2007 11:54 pm

is there a way to do this either in live or with a low profile plugin? i'm looping viola... it'd be nice to layer up on one track (sort of like with a analog pedal, like a boss dd-6) instead of spanning the loops across 10-15 tracks to get a nice orchestral sound.

this seems like it'd be really easy to implement directly in live, maybe i'm missing something?

if you're on pc try this maybe:

Hp Elitebook 2.8Ghz. Live 7.0.14 & Live 8.1.5, XP Pro. and stuff...

aha, actually OSX. i am giving sooperlooper a shot right now, it seems to make midi lag significantly though, at the moment.

Sampler, if you got it...

otherwise, yeah a looper plugin is probably gonna be best.

Is the goal just to clean up your session, and consolidate 15 tracks?

ahh, didn't realize sampler did that.

the goal is essentially two tiered:

1), to be able to layer unlimited numbers of tracks (playing viola) to potentially create large orchestral sounding tracks

2), to do this in a way that doesn't use up valuable track space that i can use for drums, synth, banjo, vocals, etc.

i'm using a foot pedal to trigger tracks, and want to make sure i can control everything directly from there. so a overdubbing loop situation would be ideal.

Look up "key ranges" under Sampler. You'll assign different loops to different keys/key ranges.

sampler won't do what you're asking about, not sure why someone thinks it will. mobius, augustus, angstro, other plug in loopers will.

sampler doesn't do realtime looping like a pedal...
also, maybe check out plasq musolomo http://plasq.com/musolomo for OSX
Hp Elitebook 2.8Ghz. Live 7.0.14 & Live 8.1.5, XP Pro. and stuff...

I didn't see the OP say "realtime"

But if that's what they want (like a looper pedal, which can be used in real time or like a sampler you set up the night before) then those other folks are correct, Sampler won't loop in real time.
