Audio Engine Issues

Post by deeplfo » Fri Nov 30, 2007 11:54 pm

OK, so this wasn't happening with 6.x: with 7.0.1 I'm getting CPU spikes here and there, I get zipper noisy effects both on audio channels and plugins, all this without any major load on either Live or other apps running. Houston, I think we have a problem here...perhaps?

Anyone else?

naah, I've got a year old Dell XPS410 with really good spec. Live 6.x on the same machine is much more stable. No zippers, nothing. And I must say that it's not the CPU strikes that concern me, it's the instability of audio.

what audio card are you using?

what latency do you have it set to - try increasing the latency and see if it pops/clicks less.

check ur audio setting, sometimes those can tend to cause the trouble u mentioned.

have a look at ur buffer rate, and also ur sample rate setting.

Actually, I've noticed some clicking in 7.0.1 too... strangely it wasn't/isn't happening in the betas! Not yet sure what to think...

Have you tried the options.txt trick?

I'm having the same problems. Noticed that the spikes happen when Live sends out a midi change update to my remote sl. If I turn off the remote sl, the spikes disappear.

Also, my sl's automapped pots aren't working, and while they initially wouldn't work in 6.10, a dump would fix it. However, now a dump doesn't do anything and the pots still don't work (sent an email off to Novation on that one).

That's it. I also have Remote 61SL and when I don't map the control surface's Input/Output settings to RemoteSL the audio glitches stop.

Anyone else having issues with zippers and drop outs when enabling control surfaces? Or is this only an issue with Remote SL?
