Problem with Slicer (or am i missing something?)

Post by Gravis » Sat Dec 01, 2007 2:57 pm

Hi guys

I'm using Ableton Live 7's slicing feature, and the results on small audio samples that are cut up into a LOT of sections aren't what i wanted/expected/right.

Take an accapella that's 2 beats long (1/2 a bar), now slice that into 16 slices. now press play on the sliced channel that Live has created for you. Now play the original accapella. They sound different, my question is why?

I'm using Complex mode as my warping method, in case that's the problem?

It seems that slicing the audio introduces artifacts into the audio when played back, i HOPE im doing something wrong, but i can't see what. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!

Thanks :)

Have you taken a look at the settings of the Simplers which are now containing the slices? Maybe there is something there which is causing your problem. e.g. ADSR values

?

Yeah, i can mess around with the ADSR values etc, but, i assumed live would, by default, line the samples up and not effect them in anyway. it seems odd to me that by default there is some sort of "effect" being placed upon the audio.
