If you're sidechaining with an external plugin it usually is, since you can't tell an external plugin to take its sidechain from somewhere, you have to have an extra track to send it to there. (Unless there's some cleverer way I never figured out?)Nokatus wrote:This wasn't necessary in live 6, either.djmarkpappas wrote:amen to the sidechaining no more having likie 10 duplicate kick channels
Just use the sends instead of cloning tracks.tylenol wrote:If you're sidechaining with an external plugin it usually is, since you can't tell an external plugin to take its sidechain from somewhere, you have to have an extra track to send it to there
Return channel audio to -> compressor key input. Now adjust the corresponding send on the channel(s) you want to use as a key signal.
Oh this is basically what I do, but routing-wise you still have to have one extra send or intermediate track for every sidechain input, that's what I thought djmarkpappas meant. You no longer need the extra intermediate tracks with the way routing works for live-internal devices that do sidechaining.Nokatus wrote:Just use the sends instead of cloning tracks.tylenol wrote:If you're sidechaining with an external plugin it usually is, since you can't tell an external plugin to take its sidechain from somewhere, you have to have an extra track to send it to there

Ok, yep. I'm pretty sure he meant the old trick of cloning the whole kick drum track into as many copies as he needs for routing it into key inputstylenol wrote:Oh this is basically what I do, but routing-wise you still have to have one extra send or intermediate track for every sidechain input, that's what I thought djmarkpappas meant.
