Desperately need help with remote sl's pots w/ Live 7

Post by cbcb13 » Sun Dec 02, 2007 6:44 am

I upgraded to Live 7, and now Ableton is not recognizing my sl's pots. Faders, buttons, pads, knobs all work fine, but nothing for the encoders. In 6.10, this would happen when I first opened Live, but performing a dump in the midi preferences would fix it. Now performing a dump doesn't do anything.

The worst part is I somehow had it working this morning, but a power outage rebooted my comp and now I'm back to pulling my hair out. I've searched all day for an answer, and I've got nothing. The normal "switch it to port 2" doesn't work for me since I'm on Vista and there's an issue with the driver, so in my prefs tab my sl ins and outs only shows up as "2-Novation SL"

If someone knows how to fix this, I'll be eternally greatful.

Unistall the Novation drivers and use Windows' own USB Midi drivers if you don't see no ports for the Remote. You must have ports, else you will run into several problems (Automap Server uses Port C/3, Live template is set to Port B/2 by default and everything else usually runs via Port A/1). The Novation drivers should not be needed anyway, they just fix a single issue with Windows:
We have discovered conflicts between the ReMOTE SL and other peripheral devices which also use the Windows USB Audio Device driver.
