Phase troubles in Live 7 !

Post by Chris J » Sat Dec 01, 2007 4:16 pm

This morning, second day with L7, I thought the sound was weird, like out of phase, I tried all the tricks to understand what was going on, putting the utility on "0 Width", but still i had an impression of stereo. On my desk I put the pans of the L&R output in the middle, and there you go :
there's some delay between the left output and right output !! which is creating a phasing effect.

Seriously folks, nobody's witnessed that yet ???

Hey Chris,
Just downloaded 7 and I'm hearing the same phase issue (really noticable with acoustic drums). I just went back and opened the same session in 6 and it sounded fine. Grrrrr!

I have not noticed this on any my sets. So I did a special set to test it out. Again, no problem with phase or channel delay.

What happens when you render an output? Do you get the same problem?

Further investigation:
this is not constant.
If I restart it goes away or has a different delay between channels

By misfortune the first track I work with Live7 has 2 real drum kits (5 tracks each) panned left and right, and I've been struggling to put them in sync.
Although originally there was only a few places where it moved out of sync, now I've spent hours adjusting tiny bits, but when exporting it sounds different.

It's horrible if you can't rely on the constance of stereo.
Please look into this, thanks

Hi,

We'd need a bit more details about your setup, to investigate the issue. Could you tell me, both of you who experience the problem, about your computer, processor, sound card, audio drivers, and also send me a Live set that shows problems, without samples, to [email protected].

Regards,
Amaury

the setup is in my signature, (audio driver is ASIO WDM) never experienced that EVER in any of the live version since 3

it wasn't a particular song, any song opened during this weirdness suffers from the delay as long as Live isn't restarted

Hi Amaury,
I sent you the sets of some snare hits in Live 6 and Live 7 last night. Did you find anything strange in them?

To synthbuilder, when rendered the track sounds fine so this seems to be a monitoring issue. Very strange indeed.

yes only while monitoring, whichis horrible when you spend hours aligning stuff to be in rhythm only to find out the monotoring wasn't right...
