importing video screwy

I've noticed that when i drag a quicktime file of a definite length (say 30sec) into Live's Arrangement it comes up longer, like 30:06 or something.

Also, 16:9 formats end up looking squished. having all sorts of problems with video... Is there some preference menu i'm missing?

Using Live 7.

anyone else experiencing weirdness with importing video (distorted image, unusual clip lengths)?
