Beat repeat envelopes and dummy clips

Post by Joshstrap » Tue Dec 04, 2007 12:04 am

So I've just started using dummy clips and I'm really loving it but I'm having a hell of a time using beat repeat with them... I'm under the impression that clip envelopes in all aspects of beat repeat are relative to the settings currently residing on the effect.. is this true?

Is there any way for me to, say, on one track with a beat repeat have 2 dummy clips one which will give me a different grid and gate from the other and save it as a clip for use in other tracks without remembering every setting that beatrepeat was on before the clips are launched and resetting it there? is manually using beat repeat on such a track generally unsable b/c it kills my envelope settings? Also... any way of changing the "mix type" w/ a clip envelope like i can w/ an arrangement envelope?

sorry so many questions. shit is frustrating as hell, though.

Cheers.

it's true for everything in session view. all clip envelopes are relative to the settings in the plugin. to get the full range of something available for the clip envelope you need to set it to full, then modulate it with the clip envelope. it's kind of a bullshit system that we've been trying to get changed or a while...

thanks for the response. I realized this after my obnoxious second post here, though i just didn't know what to search for. From what I've been reading (mainly from your posts..) midi yoke can be used to effectively automate clips absolutely by recording cc movements as such. There was so much confusion on those posts though that i'm wondering if off hand you can point me towards a definitive routing method for that application (assuming there is one).
